15 Awesome Horses

There are a lot of beautiful horse breeds in the world, but I select only took 15 of them, they are domesticated for thousands of years, and in that time we’ve had a chance to influence some extraordinary breeds. I don’t know which one is the best, but it seem all are best and beautiful.

Friesian Horse

The Friesian (also Frisian) is a horse breed originating in Friesland, in the Netherlands. Although the breed’s conformation resembles that of a light draft horse, Friesians are graceful and nimble for their size. It is believed that during the Middle Ages, ancestors of Friesian horses were in great demand as war horses throughout continental Europe. [Source]

The Akhal-Teke is a horse breed from Turkmenistan, where they are a national emblem. They have a reputation for speed and endurance, intelligence, and a distinctive metallic sheen. The shiny coat of palominos and buckskins led to their nickname “Golden Horses”. [Source]

The Percheron is a breed of draft horse that originated in the Huisne river valley in western France, part of the former Perche province from which the breed takes its name. Usually gray or black in color, Percherons are well-muscled, and known for their intelligence and willingness to work. [Source]

Trakehner is a light warmblood breed of horse, originally developed at the East Prussian state stud farm in the town of Trakehnen from which the breed takes its name. [Source]

Haflinger Horses or AvelignesePhoto Credit

The Haflinger, also known as the Avelignese, is a breed of horse developed in Austria and northern Italy (namely the South Tyrol region) during the late 19th century. Haflinger horses are relatively small, are always chestnut in color, have distinctive gaits described as energetic but smooth, and are well-muscled yet elegant. [Source]

The Rocky Mountain Horse is a horse breed developed in the state of Kentucky in the United States. Despite its name, it originated not in the Rocky Mountains, but instead in the Appalachian Mountains. Tinker is now considered a derogatory term when referring to the Travelers, however the name has remained in use for their horses, although they are sometimes called Irish Cobs, Gypsy Cobs or similar variations. [Source]

The Arabian or Arab horse is a breed of horse that originated on the Arabian Peninsula. With a distinctive head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most easily recognizable horse breeds in the world. [Source]
